The winters in Alberta are long and cold. Although Open Session is a great way to get in your boat and practice tones of skills, a little more excitement is sometimes called for. This is where polo comes in. For polo enthusiasts looking for a structured game following all of the ICF rules, this is not it. Check out our friends the Edmonton Whitewater Paddlers who run the country’s top canoe polo program.
Here at UAPS, our court looks like a big L, our boats look nothing like polo boats and our ball handling is suspect. However we do put on an extremely fun game most weeks with a set of house rules and safety equipment to keep everyone safe and enjoying the game. Members should be very comfortable with wet exits and t-rescues as a minimum to play polo.
